If you are a doctor or clinician in need of placing a patient in a mental health treatment program, Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute (PPI) can provide the most appropriate therapy for your patients, regardless of age, symptoms and circumstances. We are dedicated to providing clinical excellence, diverse education, research, and community collaboration in a manner that evolves to meet the changing behavioral health care needs of Central Pennsylvania and beyond.

Our treatment options are provided to adults, mature adults, and children, adolescents and teens separately, so that their unique needs can be addressed. Additionally, each program is created specifically for your patient so that the right therapy is used in each situation.

How to refer a patient to a mental health treatment program

Doctors and clinicians will need to follow the referral process when requesting patient acceptance to a psychiatric treatment program. We offer a full continuum of behavioral services for our community including: outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, inpatient hospitalization and Electroconvulsive Therapy.

Doctors needing to refer a patient that is medically cleared and needs inpatient mental health treatment will need to contact the Admissions Department at (717) 782-6493 or (866) 746-2496. Use the information below to select the most appropriate program for your patient. More information for each patient type and treatment level are provided if you are unsure about which facility to choose.

The Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute is located on the Polyclinic Campus and provides mental health treatment for both adults and children. This facility provides all of the inpatient and full-hospitalization services for the region. Some outpatient services are also provided at this location.

The Division Street Clinic (formerly known as Milestones) is a mental health treatment center that serves adults only. The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offered here is designed to help adults cope with behavioral health symptoms that are significantly impacting their day-to-day lives. It is located near the Polyclinic Campus.

The Third Street Clinic is a mental health treatment center providing outpatient and partial hospitalization programs for children, adolescents and teens. Additionally, treatment of older adults for Dementia, including Alzhiemer’s, is offered here. It is located at the Polyclinic Campus.
