Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

The Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Program is an Intensive Outpatient Program for individuals who are needing more support than outpatient therapy alone.  The program is 13 weeks in duration and skills classes are three days per week from 9:00am-12:00pm, on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays.

Who this Program Treats

The Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Program at PPI is an outcomes based treatment specifically for individuals with the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) or individuals who have traits of BPD. 

Services this Program Offers

Services of the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Program include:

  • Skills classes
  • Individual DBT sessions
  • Coaching call
  • Care planning (during treatment and at discharge)
  • Psychiatric evaluation and medication management (optional)
  • Family DBT Sessions (Optional)

Treatment goals include development of:

  • relationship skills
  • the ability to handle stress
  • the ability to regulate emotions
  • self-awareness

Our Groups are co-facilitated by therapists with specialized DBT training. The program also provides DBT individual sessions one time per week. Coaching call is a service offered to individuals outside of skills class for further guidance and direction of skills use. This program offers up to three family sessions during the 13 weeks; however this is optional. Individuals have the option to see the psychiatrist on staff for medications or continue to see their psychiatrist outside of the program.
